Recently the Star magazine had published a report on actress Katie Holmes being a drug addict. Though the magazine did not allegedly mention on Katie doing drugs it described that she was “trapped in a cycle of addictive treatments”. The magazine also described that the actress was having counseling sessions in the Church of Scientology.
Katie Holmes who was raised as a Roman Catholic started attending the Church of Scientology after she began dating her husband Tom Cruise. The actress has sued the Star Magazine alleging that it was marring her image in public by publishing false articles on her just to increase circulation.
The actress in a statement on Tuesday has pointed out that though there have been many fabricated stories on her this particular news seems to have gone beyond limits. There are reports that the actress is seeking $50 million for damages. Reports also suggest the magazine is ready to defend the charges against it.
The actress who became a very popular figure through the teen television series ‘Dawson Creek’ went on to act in high-grosser films like ‘Batman Begins.’ She began her much speculated about relationship with actor Tom Cruise in 2005. In April 2006 they had a daughter Suri and the couple got married in November the same year.
