Chiyaan Vikram should be a happy and proud man. The man who rose to greater heights in Tamil cinema by dint of his hardwork, has added one more feather to his cap now by being chosen for the Honorary doctorate to be conferred on him by Universita Popolare Degli Studi Di Milano, Italy for his excellence in fine arts (acting). He has been chosen for the rare honour for doing varied roles in his films.
The varsity has confirmed that the trustee, associated members and board of directors have unanimously chosen him for the high esteem. The honour would be conferred on Vikram on 29 May, 2011 in Italy as part of the grand convocation function of the university. Vikram is perhaps the first actor from Tamil cinema to be conferred the doctorate by a foreign university.
Vikram, popularly called as Chiyaan, waited patiently to strike the right chord in Tamil cinema. Thus came Sethu and director Bala brought to light his historionics. Nothing could stop him from thereon. He grew strong and followed it up with some stupendous roles in films like King, Samurai, Kasi, Pithamagan, Samy, Dhil, Dhool, Gemini, Anniyan, Kanthaswamy, Raavanan to name a few.
