Simbu is the funny cop in ‘Dabangg’ remake

Tuesday, February 22, 2011 ·

Cop roles have been one of the most favourite roles for our heroes and interestingly most of the present top heroes have excelled in at least one film doing a cop role. Suriya in ‘Khakka Khakka’, Vikram in ‘Saamy’, Vijay in ‘Pokkiri’, Ajith in ‘Aanjaneya’, Karthi in ‘Siruthai’ and so on. When all his contemporaries have worn the uniform, can Silambarasan be lagging for long?

Buzz says Silambarasan aka Simbu aka STR is all set to do his first police role in the Tamil remake of the 2010 Hindi blockbuster ‘Dabangg’. The cop Chulbul Pandey, Simbu will be playing is a funny cop with grey shades and mouthing punch dialogues.

We reported a month ago that south Indian film makers were queuing up outside Salman’s house to acquire the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of the blockbuster. We also said that, the producer of the film Arbaazz Khan, the brother of Salman Khan wanted to retain the creative control of the movie even when it is made in south Indian languages.

The south Indian remake rights of ‘Dabangg’ have been purchased by producers Dhanush’s ‘Uthamaputhiran’, Mohan Apparao and T Ramesh for a record price sources say. Things have fallen in place and the work has started for the Tamil remake we guess. Telugu remake is already underway as ‘Gabbar Singh’ with Pawan Kalyan doing Salman Khan.
