Anushka Sheety Shock Treatment to Raghava Lawrence

Thursday, February 17, 2011 ·

There was a time in Kollywood when frontline heroes would dictate terms to their directors and producers and arrange to have ‘heroines’ of their preference to pair up opposite them in their films. The trend has, however, gone out of the window nowadays with directors choosing the lead pair at the time of writing their scripts itself.

Heroines too have their own preferences. Tamannaah, who was to play Simbu’s lead in a proposed film by director Lingusamy, had the courage to say ‘no’ to the project. Instead of openly saying that they won’t be starring against some heroes, heroines would usually say that their ‘call-sheet’ dates didn’t permit them to take up the offer(s).

Reports say that Anushka, the lead heroine at present in Kollywood and Tollywood, has told choreographer-actor-director Raghava Lawrence to look for ‘another’ heroine for the Tamil version of his upcoming bilingual film ‘Kanchana’ while she has gleefully agreed to star opposite him as heroine in the film’s Telugu version!

Anushka, who has a huge fan following in Tamil, had a simple calculation to back up her theory: she would sign up Tamil films only if the film starred a ‘big’ hero. Lawrence, who had no other way but go give into Anushka’s demand, went ahead and signed up his ‘friend’ Lakshmi Rai as the heroine for the tamil version of ‘Kanchana’!
