Isha Sharvani in ‘Viswaroopam’

It is learnt that Shriya Saran has been replaced by Isha Sharvani in Kamal Hassan’s upcoming film ‘Viswaroopam’.Zaheer Khan’s girl friend Isha Sharvani.

As things stand now, Bollywood’s Sonakshi Sinha would be debuting in Tamil films as heroine opposite Kamal in the film, which would be directed by Kamal himself. ‘Viswaroopam’ would have music by the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and would go to the floors by August.

Unit sources say that Shriya has been replaced by Isha Sharvani (fiancée of Indian pace spearhead Zaheer Khan) mainly because of her dancing prowess and not because of her amazingly pretty face. Shriya Saran, otherwise an excellent dancer, was said to be found wanting when it came to ‘Kathak’ dancing and it is reported that it was indeed a ‘painful’ decision made by Kamal to replace Shriya with Isha.

Isha has acted in few Hindi films. She is widely considered by many as the best dancer to have hit Bollywood after Madhuri Dixit.

Udhayan Movie Review

Platitudes spilled everywhere into the film that nowhere stands different from the commercial potboilers. Finding opportunity to make his debut directorial with ‘Udhayan’, director Chaplin has failed terribly by crafting a time-worn script that has a not-so good performance by the artists.

The film opens with ‘Thimiru’ shade as we find a bunch of goons lead by a ferocious Thalaivar (Aashish Vidyarthi) in search of someone to bump him off. Cut to Chennai - Vasanth (Arulnidhi) is a handsome, smart lad employed as an assistant manager in ICICI Bank. Not to miss his colleague (Santhanam), who goes through ludicrous moments over his job. Vasanth feels straight from his heart and openly admits his interest to marry Priya (Pranitha) on the first sight. When everything seemingly proceeds well through their way, a flashback reveals unsettled disputes among few characters in the film including Vasanth.

When an actor supposedly makes his debut in a film based on rural backdrop, his next immediate option would be display a different avatar as a smart city boy. So does Arulnidhi - he crunches down the baddies, sings limitless duets with heroine appearing in skimpy costumes and finally take up ‘Vishal’ act (Thimiru, Sandakozhi) during climax. Arulnidhi definitely needs a crash course to make things happen. Pranitha on the other end might keep the guys engaged with her looks. But again, she has to pay more attention towards her costumes. Her cute cherubic looks impress us and she might have some luck in Kollywood. Aashish Vidyarthi renders an effortless performance as a dangerous goon. Krishna Moorthy of ‘Naan Kadavul’ fame as a Brahmin is a ridiculous factor and it’s unacceptable. Santhanam in his fixed paradigm tries evoking laughter and indeed succeeds.

Manikanth Kadri from Kannada film industry forays into Kollywood with this film and has delivered some tunes that are appreciable. Cinematography Vijay Milton has some colorful visuals and a good illustration can be witnessed with the songs.

‘Udhayan’ doesn’t manage to keep the interest levels of audiences the same throughout and it stumbles down halfway, turning them restless.

Vanthaan Ventraan Movie Preview

There could no be no apt title than 'Vandhaan Vendraan' for a Jeeva-starrer at this point of time. Even as the actor ruling the box-office with 'Ko', comes 'Vandhaan Vendraan', generating huge expectations due to reasons many.

Firstly, the film stars Jeeva, a reliable name among Tamil actors to look for quality entertainers. And it is directed by Kannan, a former associate of Mani Ratnam, who has built an image for himself with movies like 'Jayamkondan' and 'Kanden Kadhalai'.

Finally, this is the second film in Tamil for Tapsee, the 'Vellavi vechi velutha...' Punjabi girl, who won over the hearts of Tamil masses by beautifully playing the role of an Anglo Indian girl in Dhanush-starrer 'Aadukalam'.

Produced by K S Srinivasan of Vasan Visual Ventures, the man behind 'Naan Kadavul' and 'Boss Engira Baskaran', 'Vandhaan Vendraan' has music by Thaman, whose music is also said to be one of the highlights of the film.

Jeeva , who plays a boxer in the movie, says, "the script is simply amazing and has everything in it to impress the audience. All credits go to Kannan for beautifully conceiving and making the film. It is an entertainer with a difference."

He adds: "It is a interesting role, that of a professional boxer that I play in the movie. And, I underwent rigorous training for this. Also, with Santhanam around, there is no dearth of comedy".

For 'Vandhaan Vendraan', Kannan shot for almost 22 days in Mumbai's sensitive areas like the Gateway of India and Taj Hotel. "We were refused permission initially, as security was high in these areas where the terror attack of 2008 happened. But my script was conceived four years back, even before the incident, and I went out of my way to convince them."

Kannan also clears the air by saying that 'Vandhan Vendran' is not a remake, but based on an original script penned by him. "My maiden film Jayamkondan too is not inspired by any other movie. Only my second venture Kanden Kadhalai is the Tamil adaptation of Bollywood hit Jab We Met," says the former associate of Mani Ratnam.

He adds: "Though Jeeva is playing a boxer, it is just his profession in the movie and it doesn't have any crucial importance. The screenplay will be so different and I am hopeful that film-buffs would love watching Vandhaan Vendraan."

Prakash Raj Started Dance School In Mumbai

Prakash Raj seems to be doing all the right things for his wife Pony Verma. The latter, a popular Bollywood choreographer of Punjabi origin, and Prakash Raj got married in August 2010.

The couple was in the news recently when they opened a dance school in Mumbai on June 13th. The event was one glitzy affair with many prominent faces from B’Town gracing the event. One of the first few guests to arrive was director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The event also saw actor Govinda shake his legs to a tune from his film ‘Partner.’

Vivek Obereoi too made an appearance because he is a close friend and well-wisher of Pony. The dance school is called the ‘Indian School of Performing Arts’ (IPSA), where dance belonging to different genres will be trained to aspiring talent.

The couple seemed immensely happy during the event, and have revealed that they have plans to open more branches in other states too.

Vikram Rajapattai Script Modified

It was initially rumored that Vikram is playing dual roles in Rajapattai but latest we hear that the script has undergone some changes and director Suseenthiran decided a single role fro Vikram.

The director has just returned from his brief exile to Singapore and he has almost finalized the songs in discussion with music director Yuvan Shankar Raja. The launch of the film took place just a couple of days ago and the project is going to start soon. Suseenthiran asked Vikram to redefine his physical outline to meet the demands of the character. Vikram is playing the role of a gym master and the final look will be of a gym-prone personality.
The actor is going to sport this look after his film Beema. The plot of the film runs on the back drop of Chennai and so the shot of the film will take place in and around Chennai city which will be completed in just 60 days.
Yuvan Shankar Raja will compose the music for the lyrics penned by Yuga Bharathi. Suseendran's favourite writer Bhaskar Sakthi will pen the dialogues. The story has been written by Seenu Vasan.

Vikram Raja Pattai Movie Launch

Vikram’s next venture Raja Pattai directed by Suseendran has been launched yesterday in Chennai. Earlier the film was titled as Vendhan but the filmmakers have decided on a new title Raja Pattai.

The film features Vikram in dual roles and Deeksha Seth as his an IT professional while Mitra Kurian plays a vital role in the film. This is going to be a full-fledged commercial movie, loaded with action, comedy and romance. The film’s shoot will be completed in just 60 days. The plot of the film runs on the back drop of Chennai and so the shot of the film will take place in and around Chennai city.
Director Suseenthiran says “I want to prove that I can make commercial films which are racy and entertaining. Raja Pattai will be an out and out commercial film. Right from scene one the film will be riveting and there is a good scope for comedy and action. I have asked Vikram to put on some weight to suit his character in the film”.

Linguswamy Busy With Vettai

Well we are talking about the mood of director Linguswamy who is busy with his upcoming film 'Vettai.' The film has a galaxy of stars in Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul. Samuthirakani Bagged New Project ‘Saattai’

The actor in Samuthirakani is busy than the director, one has to say. The 'Naadodigal' filmmaker, who won applause for his on-screen performance in 'Subramaniapuram and 'Easan', has now bagged a new project, titled 'Saattai'.

The film will be produced by popular director Prabhu Solomon, in association with John Max ('Mynaa' producer) on Shalom Studios banner. M Anbazhagan, a former associate of Prabhu Solomon, will wield the megaphone.

Says the director, "The movie will highlight the importance of teaching, which is a noble profession. Samuthirakani will play a school teacher while Yuvan will be the other hero. Thambi Ramaiah is doing an important role."

Meanwhile, Samuthirakani is busy directing his good friend Sasikumar for 'Poraali'. Denying reports that there was a rift between them, the actor-director says, "We will always be best pals as we understand each other very well."

Kollywood Shakthi Wed Lock On Oct 31St

Actor Shakthi, son of veteran director P Vasu, will tie the knot with Chennai-based Smrithi, a B Com graduate, on October 31. The wedding date was fixed at an engagement ceremony on Monday.

The betrothal function at a star hotel in Chennai was attended by Prabhu, Sathyaraj, Vijayakumar, Manjula, Sibiraj and Karthi among others. "It is an arranged marriage finalised by elders in both the families," sources say.

The wedding will take place in a grand manner on October 31 at Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Hall at MRC Nagar in Chennai, in which top guns from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries will take part.

Shakthi, who made his acting debut with 'Thottal Poo Malarum', is currently busy with 'Edho Seigirai Ennai' and 'Vanjikottai Vaaliban', while his father Vasu is directing RK for 'Puli Vesham'.

"Rajinikanth Will Be Discharged Within Few Days.

Dialysis procedure being performed on Superstar Rajinikanth at the Mount Elizbaeth Medical Centre in Singapore has been stopped, as doctors found his health condition fast returning to normalcy.

"Rajini will be discharged from the hospital within few days. However, he will stay in Singapore for some weeks, to take a break and to undergo periodical check-ups. He will return to Chennai only after that," sources say.

"There is nothing to worry about the Superstar's health now," they say, adding: "As he had assured his fans that he would come back soon, he would meet them once he is in Chennai."

In the meantime, a detailed statement is also expected from Rajini, explaining his health condition to the fans. The 'arikkai' will allay the fears in the minds of fans, who are spending sleepless nights eversince the Superstar was hospitalised.

Selva’s - 'Irandam Ulagam' Audio Launch Shortly

We had earlier reported to you that 'Viswaroopam' had moved from Selva’s hands to Kamal for direction as Selva's 'Irandam Ulagam' may take more time to complete. But look's like 'Irandam Ulagam' is indeed moving at a brisk pace.

The music composer of the film, GV Prakash had tweeted to his pals that this much-awaited flick has six tracks and a theme music. He also confirmed that the audio launch will take place next month. Probably, before Selva's wedding?

This is the second time GV Prakash is pairing with Selvaraghavan, the first being 'Aayirathil Oruvan,' the music of which was well-received by all. At the same time, GV's earlier movies with Dhanush, that is to say, 'Pollathavan' and 'Aadukalam' are noted for their tracks.

It is known by now that the lead roles play doctors / medical students in the film, but there are a few birdies who claim the movie features Dhanush and Richa as a married couple and ventures their dark pasts, however we can’t be sure of that.

Superstar Rajinikanth Resume Rana Shoot

Let all speculations come to rest. Rajnikanth is hale and hearty and raring to resume the shoot of 'Rana'. Come August he would be back on sets all over again. The production team is already putting together plans for the shoot and it is now only a matter of a few more weeks before the Superstar is back in action.

Confirmed Sonu Sood, one of the principal characters in 'Rana', who is in close touch with Rajnikanth's family and has already sorted out his dates to go well with the revised plan. "Yes, I have been informed that 'Rana' will get going in August. We would be assembling in London to start the film's shoot."

Rubbishing all speculations and rumor around Rajnikanth's health, Sonu says that none of the perceived issues around his kidney are true. Also, the superstar is basically taking some good rest in Singapore before he returns all rejuvenated and charged up.

"Don't go by everything that you read," he warns, "There isn't anything overtly serious with Sir. In fact, he has been inquiring about the shoot. We all want him to be in the best of his health when he charms us all over again. Starting August, it would be back to lot of fun."

This should stop the wagging tongues from creating any more misconception around Rajnikanth's health and his 'Rana' being shelved.

Rajinikanth Get Rs.24 Crore For Rana

Rajinikanth is termed as the Superstar of Indian cinema in terms of his unique style acting skills and distinctive mannerisms he showcases in his films. But in terms of remuneration too he stands on top list as he is the second highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan.

The matinee idol is currently recovering at Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore and is said to be back in Chennai in a week or in 10 days. Vijay ‘Pagalavan’ Shooting Delayed!

Vijay’s next venture ‘Pagalavan’ is directed by Seeman. This is a very important movie for Vijay as his role is entirely different, something that he has not done before in his career. The shooting of this movie as per the plan was to start a year ago but due to few reasons it was put on hold. The actor was busy with other upcoming movies of his like ‘Velayudham’ and ‘Nanban’, which delayed starting the shoot for the movie ‘Pagalavan’. Vijay pairs with two beautiful heroines Hansika Motwani and Bhavana. Bhavana will be pairing up with Vijay for the first time in her career, and Hansika will be sharing the screen with Vijay for the second time.

Simbu Next Project With Director Mysskin

As reported earlier director Mysskin is narrating a story line for Simbu, it is confirmed now and he agreed to do a film with Mysskin. The actor is busy with his upcoming movie shooting ‘Osthi’. Its a remake of the Hindi blockbuster ‘Dabangg’. Though he has movies on line, his ‘Poda Podi’ is not yet completed. This movie has been shot for more than 100 days at UK. The production team has spent more than Rs.15 crore and Simbu had been to the massage parlors and night clubs, and a great deal of expense was cropped up by him. And the crew needs another 12 crore for the movies completion.

The incident of concern be the producers is that, Simbhu’s movies have not crossed a collection of 15 crore before and as the expenditure limit has already hit 12 crore with out the completion of the movie, the wonder if they will be able to make up for their loss once the movie hits the big screen.The pity thing is the actor does not cross the Rs. 15 crore mark yet in terms of overall box office collections. So the producer is in trouble to complete the shoot of ‘Poda Podi’.
