More Expectation On Prithvi's marriage

Young superstar Prithviraj is maintaining all the suspense over his marriage, that is rumoured to happen any day from today. Kamal Hassan Step In Because of Rajnikanth Step Out

Superstar Rajnikanth who accepted to attend the audio launch of Maaveeran, the dubbed version of Telugu film Magadheera has put his step back during last moment. As per the sources it is known that, he cancelled his program to avoid the media and press questions in the midst of an election debate in Tamil Nadu.

As he cancelled his program in the last moment the distributors of Maaveeran Red Giant Movies have undergone a lot of tension. Now producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has got into action and has invited Universal Hero Kamal Hassan as Chief Guest to grace the audio launch.

The audio launch is now scheduled to take place on April 24th, 2011, Sunday in Chennai. Tollywood Mega star and politician Chiranjeevi will release the first copy and will hand over it to Kamal Hassan. Maaveeran Hero Ram Charan Teja is the son of Chiranjeevi.

Sasikumar Roped Swathi Once Again

Looks like Sasikumar is keen to repeat ‘Subramaniapuram’ magic. The actor-producer-director, who is playing the lead role in ‘Poraali’ besides producing it, will share the screen space with Swathi, the ‘Kangal Irandaal…’ girl.

Udhaya Against Kasthuri Raja

Actor Udhaya has hit out at Kasthuri Raja for preventing the release of ‘Kadhal Jaadhi’ due to personal reasons. “It is sad that a director himself stopped his own film from hitting the screens,” the actor said.

In an interview to a Tamil weekly, Udhaya, who is currently acting in a movie titled ‘Ra Ra’, said, “I don’t know where to complain. Songs from the film (composed by Illayaraja) were hits. But the movie is yet to see the light of the day.’

Brother to director Vijay and son of producer A L Azhagappan, Udhaya added: “Hence I am producing ‘Ra Ra’ on my own. It is a laugh riot and the title is the abbreviation of Royapuram-Royapettah.”

The actor is planning to hold a contest once the film gets completed. “It will be a competition to test the Thirukkural knowledge of present day youth. Though a comedy film, ‘Ra Ra’ will have a message too,” he says.

Vivek Play A Psycho Role

It was only two days back we reported that comedy artiste M S Baskar is playing a villain in ‘Puli Vesham’, a film directed by P Vasu. Now we have more news on similar lines.

Tamil cinema’s top comedian Vivek is all set to do a baddie in a yet-to-be-titled movie, which will be directed by newcomer Anbuchezhian. Mithun, who shared the screen space with Vivek in ‘Magane En Marumagane’, will be the protagonist.

What is more interesting is that Vivek will play a psycho in this film, which will have just three characters. A hunt is on for heroine and an official announcement will be made once everything is finalised.

“Vivek will sport a totally different get-up in this film. His character will be a pleasant surprise to the audience. What made him a psycho will be the suspense, which will be revealed in the climax,” sources say.

Ameer Log On To ‘Arasiyal’

Coming down heavily on film stars who take up politics only during elections, Ameer has said that he would play a crucial role in the next Assembly elections, by making more number of youngsters to vote.

“It’s wrong for some actors to step into politics only at the time of polls and to launch personal attacks during public campaigns. Rather, they should strive for decent politics,” said the actor-director.

Revealing his plans, Ameer said, “I will sure be there in the political field during the 2016 elections. I have already started ‘Maanavar Marumalarchi Thittam’, through which I am interacting with a lot of students.”

“When Anna Hazare could achieve at his age, we too could do sure our bit to the society,” he said and added: “I want to make everyone to vote. This is my ambition and I will achieve it.”

Simbu’s ‘Vaanam’ is ready to see day break. The film has a wider ensemble with Bharath, Anushka, Vega, Prakash Raj, Sonia Agarwal and Saranya in supporting roles. The film’s music is doing well with the youth, thanks to Yuvan’s peppy numbers. A couple of songs have been crooned by Simbu.

With his work completed in ‘Vaanam’ Simbu is now concentrating on ‘Podaa Podi’ which will be a romantic comedy. This film seems to be completely under the whims of Simbu and sees Vignesh Shiva in the director’s chair. The story too has been penned by Vignesh. But simbu seems to have a special interest in this film and is giving his hundred percent to this project say sources close to the actor.

The film sees Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, daughter of Sarath Kumar debuting as heroine with this film. The songs will be taken care of by Dharan. This film too will have a couple of songs with Simbu’s voice to it. The music track has six song tracks with a song by singer-actress Andrea, indicate sources. There is also another important aspect in this film. Director Gautham Menon will appear in a cameo in ‘Podaa Podi.’ Looks like the friendship of Gautham and Simbu has been carried forward even post their involvement in ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya.’

With Simbu’s involvement the director will have no other go but to bend to the whims and fancies of the actor who also has some knowledge in film making. The actor will be leaving to Spain today with the ‘Podaa Podi’ team. The film began shooting towards the end of last year with a few portions with the lead stars shot in London.

Tension Prevailed At Saligramam

Tension prevailed at Saligramam in Chennai on Tuesday morning after unidentified persons threw stones at a house owned by Vijay, where the actor’s Makkal Iyakkam is functioning, Monday late night.

Music composer Vijay Antony is residing at one part of the house. Though the reason behind the attack is not known, it is believed that Vijay’s political affinity could have made miscreants to target his property.

Nobody was injured in the attack however, which took place just minutes after Vijay Antony returned home from work. A special team of the Virugambakkam police is investigating.

It is to be noted that Vijay’s Makkal Iyakkam declared its support to the main opposition AIADMK during the recently concluded Assembly polls. In an interview, the actor came down heavily on the ruling DMK.

Suriya Playing Buddhist Monk in ‘7am Arivu’

With Shruthi Haasan playing the heroine, ‘7am Arivu’ is said to be a scintillating thriller which will travel between the present era and Pallava period. “Suriya has given his heart and soul to the film,” sources add.

‘Raana’ Shooting Postponed

The shooting of Superstar Rajinikanth’s forthcoming film ‘Raana’, which was initially scheduled to start Monday last, has been delayed by a week, thanks to pending in completion of art work.

“Grand sets are being erected for ‘Raana’ at AVM Studios in Chennai. Since enough care is being exercised to give 17th century look to each and every aspect of the sets, it’s taking time,” say sources.

The film which will feature Rajini in a triple role is directed by K S Ravikumar, the Superstar’s lucky mascot. Eros International will produce the movie in association with Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Studios.

“Rahman has completed composing two songs for ‘Raana’. They are rich and reflect well the mood of the movie. Since the script is by the Superstar himself, Ravikumar found it easy to pen the screenplay,” they add.

Kerala Court Issued Summons To Prithviraj and Meera Jasmine

A Kerala court has issued summons to Prithviraj and Meera Jasmine to appear before the court on May 16 in connection with a case filed against them by a producer, alleging cheating.

Acting on a petition moved by Karimbil Films partner K Mohandas, the Kozhikode Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) K P John ordered that both actors should appear before the court.

In his petition, Mohandas alleged that Prithviraj and Meera had received Rs five lakh each as advance for acting in a proposed Malayalam film, ‘Swapnamalika’ four years ago. However, they breached the contract by not appearing for acting.

“Besides, both the actors had also failed to respond to a legal notice service on them,” Mohandas, who filed the petition under Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), alleged.

Comedian Turned Villain In Puli Vesham

Comedy-character artiste M S Baskar has taken the avatar of a villain in ‘Puli Vesham’, a film directed by P Vasu which has RK of ‘Ellam Avan Seyal’ and ‘Azhagarmalai’ fame playing the lead role.

“Though I wanted to stay as a comedian, I could not deny the baddie role offered to me by P Vasu sir. So I accepted to play the villain for the first time in my career,” the actor says.

Baskar was a sought after dubbing artiste before he stood in front of camera. “My dubbing experience to more than 1,000 films helped me well when I became an actor,” he recalls.

On some of his forthcoming projects, he says, “I have acted with Vikram in ‘Deiva Thirumagan’ as the driver of a chocolate company truck and am playing Vijay’s uncle in ‘Velayudham’. I am also there in ‘Ethan’ and ‘Siva Poojayil Karadi’ too.”
