Finally Prashanth is back on big screen in a big way. His 'Ponnar Sankar', based on the valorous tale of two warrior brothers who lived many centuries ago (penned by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi), is almost complete and ready for release.
'Ponnar Sankar' is known to be one of his (Karunanidhi's) finest and is very dear to his heart. When actor, producer and director Thiyagarajan approached him to do it as a movie, he readily agreed, says a press release.
The movie stars Prashanth in a dual role, Divya Parameshwaren, Pooja Chopra (Miss India 2009), Jayaram, Khusboo, Prakash Raj, Sneha, Vadivelu, Seetha, Nepoleaon, Lakshmi, Raj Kiran and Sukumari are also in the cast.
Talking about the film, Thiyagarajan says the post-production work for 'Ponnar Sankar' took almost a year. About 5000 junior artists and 1000 various artists from the Chennai Sangamam, with knowledge of south Indian traditional arts, are being employed in the film's shoot. Around 150 horses, elephants and peacocks, have also been brought to give an authentic feel of that time period of ancient south India.
