Wednesday, February 16, 2011 ·

The King’s Speech received yet more accolades at last night’s Baftas ceremony with a best actor award for Colin Firth and supporting actor gongs for Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush. The film is a dramatisation of the months running up to and after King George VI’s ascension to the throne in 1936 and the effects of his stammer. Lionel Logue, played by Rush, is the Australian who employs unorthodox techniques to help the King (Firth) overcome his fear of public speaking.
