Wow! What a night it was indeed. The 83rd Academy Awards show began with the hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway opening the show. The team of ‘The King’s Speech’ had a good time at the Oscars, with the film bagging the awards for the best motion picture, the best actor, best director and the award for the best screen play.
David Seidler who took away the award for the best original screenplay in his acceptance speech said he accepted the award on behalf of all the stutters of the world. He also said “we (stutters) have a voice and we have been heard.” Seidler also thanked the academy for honoring him with the award.
‘The King’s Speech’ walked away with the award for the best motion picture too. The best director award was bagged by Tom Hooper, again for ‘The King’s Speech.’ The director revealed that he was very fortunate in receiving the script to direct this biopic and the way it has continued to affect many people.
The producers of the film Emile Sherman, Iain Canning and Gareth Unwin accepted the award for best picture for ‘The King’s Speech’. They revealed that they were a bit nervous before the award was announced, but were sure they had a good movie with them.
True to most of the Oscar predictions for the best actor, Colin Firth bagged the award for his leading performance as the stuttering King George VI in the film ‘The King’s Speech.’ The actor opened his Oscar acceptance speech with “"I have a feeling my career has just peaked.” The actor was last year nominated for an award for his performance as a gay professor in ‘A Single Man.’ He also thanked his wife Livia for bearing with his “Fleeting delusions of Royalty” during the filming of the biopic.
Congrats to the entire team to have given to the world a great film that continues to inspire numerous lives.
