Even before the release of director S.A Chandrasekaran’s ‘Sattapadi Kutram’, the film faces trouble. Selvaperundhagai, a sitting Congress MLA, has reportedly filed a complaint with the State Election Commission requesting it to first view the film before allowing it to be released in theatres.

The MLA has stated in his complaint that the film has been made ‘bending’ the ‘model code of conduct’ that guides the elections in the State. “The film says many derogatory things about some respected political leaders. In this backdrop, I request the Hon’ble Commission to first watch the film before granting it permission to release in theatres,” the complaint has said.
The complaint has sent shivers down the throats of the many distributors who were in talks to secure the film’s distribution rights. They are said to be very apprehensive that in case they bought the film and the film’s release gets stayed, the would have to bear the brunt of the financial liability.

Choosing the best way out, the main distributors are keeping mum about securing the release rights of the film. Meanwhile, SAC is said to be quite intent on releasing the film next week at any cost and is reportedly meeting all the theatre owners and distributors with whom he has a friendly equation.
